Making a Safe Vetting Part 2: Play

Making a Safe Vet Part 2: Play

Making a Safe Vet Part 2: Play

BDSM scenes or play is a significant component in WIIWD. Whether it’s the feel of flogging or the pang of paddling, the comfort of rope, or the restrictiveness of bondage, we love it. Sometimes, in the excitement of doing “all the things,” we may forget how dangerous these things can be.

Trusting the person you are playing with is essential to enjoying your scene thoroughly. Efficient vetting is also vital to making that happen. There are a few things all bottoms should consider when vetting for play:

  • What is the experience level of the Top?
  • What do the people they’ve played with say about the experience?
  • Has the Top had any consent violations?
  • Does the Top do the type of play you want to do?
  • Does the Top pay attention to the bottom during play?

Vetting isn’t only for bottoms. Tops, there are a few things for you to consider when vetting when vetting a potential bottom for play as well.

  • Does the bottom have a history of consent violations?
  • Is the bottom known to play under the influence?
  • Are they known to change what’s been negotiated after the scene starts?

As stated before, play is a significant part of what we do. It’s up to us to be as safe as possible from the beginning to the end of the scene. Thorough vetting helps in accomplishing that task.

Remember, your safety should always come FIRST.
Until next time…Have fun…Enjoy life…Be safe!
