Business Spotlight: Wax Makes Scents

S. Smith is a resident of Texas. She is the mother of 3 wonderful children and enjoys arts, crafts, writing poetry and music. Some of her favorite kinks and fetishes are impact play, temp play and sensation play. She has been in the community since 2019 and has traveled locally, and domestically, as a service-bottom publicly, and privately, for Leather, BDSM and kink affiliates. She identifies as a switch and enjoys her autonomy. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her son and living life to the fullest.

She took some time out of her busy schedule for a quick Q&A with me.

1. Can you share the story behind the founding of your business and how it became connected to the BDSM and Leather Culture community?

I was introduced to candle making at age 12 when attending a summer camp. Around 2001 or 2002, my mother suggested it as a hobby to be creative, de-stress and a beneficial financial opportunity. My first sale was in 2003 at an arts and crafts sale sponsored by a former employer. In 2019, the choice was made to start making candles again, primarily novelty and scented candles. This was also the year kink and BDSM found me. In 2020, another line of products were launched: vampire gloves. Traveling as a service bottom and networking with others in the community, research was conducted and a unique recipe for body-safe wax play products was formulated. Close associates in the community were given various products in exchange for constructive criticism and feedback; which also included positive reviews and sharing with others. Word of mouth is how we became connected to the BDSM and Leather community.

2. What unique products or services does your business offer that cater specifically to the BDSM and Leather Culture community?
